NaturFund Artisan Outreach

Did you know that the artisan sector is the second largest employer in the developing world, behind agriculture? That’s right: millions of people in developing countries around the globe (most of them women) participate in the artisan economy, practicing traditional crafts as a means to earn income and sustain their livelihoods.

These numbers are exciting, and there are more where they came from. The global artisan economy is a $34 billion per year industry. Promisingly, countries in the developing world have a competitive advantage in this sector because of their rich cultural traditions, diverse artisanal skills, and unique raw materials. In fact, developing countries today account for 65 percent of handicraft exports around the world.

The artisan sector has a long way to reach it’s full potential especially in Nigeria and Africa, that’s why we(NaturFund) has taken it upon ourselves to find real solutions to the full potential of artisanship in Nigeria and Africa. We believe it can be achieved with little support from interested organizations that can be of great help in export and business growth.

First, a little bit about us: we are an organization established with objectives to empower small businesses and projects in Nigeria and Africa through equity crowdfunding and partnership with angel investors. We carry out outreach every 26th of December as a non-profit project to reach out to small businesses in Nigeria and Africa that needs our help. NaturFund was founded in 2015 and overtime we have partnered with organizations in both Nigeria and Kenya to successfully carry out outreach such as this present.

Our main aim on this present outreach scheduled to hold on 26th December, 2020 is to bring many artisans and small businesses together in a way they can benefit from each other as well as from NaturFund resources. We intend to enroll many of these artisans in an entrepreneurship class to learn the intricacies of expanding their businesses outside the coast of Africa. It’s very important that these artisans’ products gets recognition outside Nigeria and all over the world. Our major focus is to introduce the African business to the world and we believe we can achieve that with your help and support.
