The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Educare, Alex Onyia, set to lead a class action lawsuit against Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), seeking complete transparency regarding the UTME marking sheet and the scoring details of students for the just concluded UTME exercise.

Following his tweets on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on the 10th of May 2025, Mr. Alex Onyia, who is the CEO of one of the top software companies in Africa, Educare, tweeted and I quote “If you’re a student concerned that your JAMB score is significantly lower than expected, and you’re confident there’s an error, please fill this form immediately. forms.gle/1NW5ZYz7ffiPjN…

We are taking legal steps by Monday at the Federal High Court to compel JAMB to release the marking sheet and scoring details, so students can verify the accuracy of their results.”

He has expressed concerns regarding the transparency of the UTME marking process, citing student complaints shared on X. These complaints highlight discrepancies between students’ UTME scores from previous years, where they achieved high results, and their significantly lower scores in the current year. For example, the public figure stated that one student reportedly scored 281 and 311 in the UTME in the preceding two years, but received a score of 148 this year. Similar cases have been presented on X. This has raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the UTME marking sheet.

He also announced that they will appear on TVC on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 9:30am to discuss this year’s UTME results. He contend that the reported mass failure in this year’s UTME is primarily attributable to a poorly designed and inefficient system employed by JAMB, contradicting JAMB’s earlier claims that the students are responsible.
